I have been a fan of this soup since my childhood. I was just reading a recipe on a blog (you can check it out here) and came across this recipe. I decided to make this recipe and my mother’s recipe at the same time, and I am so glad I did! The soup is quite creamy and delicious and the recipe is simple enough for a busy weeknight meal.
My mother used to make this soup for her family all the time. The original recipe came from the British Army and was originally made to feed soldiers during the Boer War and the Indian Mutiny. The recipe is still very much as I remember it. It’s got a lot of garlic and is a good hot meal. I made it tonight with a little garlic and some fresh ginger and it was a great start to the week. I also had a few fresh tomatoes with it.
You can make this soup up all you want, but I like to make it with fresh tomatoes and garlic. Also, you can use fresh ginger and fresh chilies if you can find them.
